Assistant Coach
Rob Mueller
Rob Mueller is in his
first season as an assistant coach with the Cavaliers in 2012.
Prior to coming to Columbia, Mueller was head coach at St.
Mary's School in Augusta, Ga., taking his team to the league
championship game in each of his four seasons, winning the
championship three times while posting a 33-9 overall record.
Mueller also coached summer teams for Aquinas High School, and
coached Dixie Youth baseball for eight years. Mueller's Dixie
Majors All-Star team advanced to the Georgia Dixie Majors
State Tournament in 2008. Since coming to Columbia, Mueller
has coached Richland Northeast's 18U fall team, and also
coaches the Columbia Roadrunners 10U tournament team.As a player, Mueller was a third baseman for four years at Baldwin High School (Long Island, N.Y.), and went on to play for Queensborough Community College in New York City. He also played collegiate summer ball for the Long Island Mets and Baldwin Reds, and later, in the early 1990s, was a player-manager for the North Atlanta Orioles, one of the charter teams in the Metro Atlanta Men’s Adult Baseball League.
Mueller also has ties to the game at the pro and college level. He has more than 15 years experience in baseball as an award-winning baseball writer who covered the game at the major league, minor league and college level. He covered the minors for more than a decade, and was a national correspondent for Baseball America.
Rob and his wife, Marybeth, have three children, including two at RNE - Shelby (18), Jake (15) and Kevin (10).
